Steve's counseling focus includes marital/pre-marital counseling, healthy communication and conflict resolution, infidelity, relationship brokenness and restoration, addictions/co-dependency, anger management, boundaries in life and relationships, grief and loss, life transitions and depression.  

One of Steve’s specialties in marriage counseling is in helping couples deal with addictions and the co- dependent behaviors associated with addictions in a relationship and the chaos that is created.  “I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help and enter into counseling, especially when it involves issues such as sexual addiction, infidelity and abuse within one's marriage relationship.  This is why I try and create a counseling environment in which each person will feel safe, fully accepted, and gain hope that things can get better.”

Steve combines a warm, engaging relational style of counseling with the ability to challenge clients in changing things that can be changed and accepting things that cannot.  Steve's compassionate heart and gentle spirit allows his clients to feel encouraged and empowered as they work through their struggles.

Steve enters into a healthy relationship with his clients using existential therapy (client choice, freedom and responsibility) and person centered therapies (relationship and client focused) combined with cognitive- behavioral therapies that work together in developing an awareness of distorted untrue beliefs that negatively impact feelings and behavior.  With this awareness, clients are empowered to take responsibility and accountability in making healthier choices in their lives and relationships.

Steve has a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary and a Business Degree from the University of Denver, including over twenty years as a senior executive in business.  

Steven is a Licensed Professinal Counselor in Colorado and is certified as a PrePare/Enrich marriage counselor.  He is also trained in PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) by world renowned marriage experts and bestselling authors Scott Stanley and Howard Markman.  

Steve is in the process of being certified by the AACC Light Learning Institute in “Marriage Works” and “Healthy Sexuality.”  Steve is a member of the APA, ACA, and AACC.  Steve conducts seminars throughout the Denver area in Empowering Couples (PrePare/Enrich), PREP (Fighting for your Marriage), Boundaries (Cloud & Townsend) and Addictions (Co- Dependency).  Steve also is a counselor for Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch.

Steve has been happily married for more than twenty-six years and has three children ages 18, 18 and 16.   He has been an almost lifelong resident of the Littleton area and is a graduate of Littleton High School.   Steven and his family reside in the Ken Caryl community.
